Ayurveda is an ancient and unique multi-dimensional, individualized approach to disease prevention, disease management, and life enhancement. This means that Ayurveda can be used to manage and treat acute illnesses, chronic conditions, and very useful towards disease prevention. In Ayurveda, health is affected by anything taken in (digested) to nourish the body and the mind such as food, water, breath, emotions and information through the sense organs. Yes, what you hear, think, see, taste, smell and feel are all considered food in Ayurveda. It is said that the underlying cause of most diseases and illnesses are a result of poor digestion which is caused by poor eating habits, and unhealthy lifestyle choices. The goal of Ayurveda is to preserve health, and eliminate imbalance by:
AS YOU HEAL YOURSELF YOUR MIND IS NOT SO OCCUPIED WITH YOUR DISEASE STATE, ALLOWING IT TO EXPLORE OTHER THINGS AND EXPAND CONSCIOUSNESS
By adding Ayurveda to your Yoga practice, you are inviting total restoration and balance to both body and mind which brings one into alignment with his/her unique elemental constitution.
